Sergio Ingravalle's profile

Maivisto Illustration: Self–Promotion

HELLO
and welcome to my personal branding and promotional materials. I am Sergio Ingravalle, a freelance illustrator from Germany. In 2012 I decided to start working as a freelancer. The year before, I did a 5-months trip to Australia and Asia where I met very interesting and inspiring designers, artists and illustrators (see the resulting book here). During my study in Dusseldorf, Germany I focused on illustration and after my degree I began to work for my first clients.

I started as a fashion graphic designer for various brands such as Esprit, Adidas Neo and Marc O’Polo, and then began to explore my personal path on illustrations. Since my childhood, I have enjoyed working with pencils, watercolours and ink. Now, I combine the elements digitally to create something unique. Switching styles, mixing techniques and exploring unknown aspects of my abilities drive me forward and enable me to create visually appealing projects for a diverse range of clients.

I always try to create images that project a specific feeling, mood or visual aesthetic, thereby enhancing your project, product, advertising campaign, store display, article, website, video game, book cover and more

BRANDING
My studio’s name is derived from the Italian words »mai visto«, which mean »never seen before«. I begin drawing every day with this idea on my mind.

The logo shows an abstract »S« to create a connection to my first name. It consists of the »A« in the studio's name. At the same time, the two »A«'s work like two arrows to underline the importance of communication between the client and me.

BUSINESS CARDS
The cards were printed by Zoum in Canada. It's a Soft-Touch card (28pt) with black colored edges and hot stamping logo.

KEY STYLE 1: WATERCOLOUR & INK
Colourful product illustrations are created with watercolours, ink and finished digitally. These illustrations have a strong visual impact and are able to give any product an individual and recognizable aesthetic. The dynamic sport illustrations achieve an outstanding visual effect, lend movement to the static images and underline the energy of each sport.

This style has been featured on Illustration Served.

KEY STYLE 2: PENCIL & INK
Hand-drawn portraits and products are created with a fine tip to achieve photographic realism yet retaining an obviously drawn look. Watercolours, ink and brush strokes are added to give each piece a dynamic and unique touch. The detailed drawings, in combination with loose ink splashes, stand out from any photographic image. This technique enhances the visual presence of products and objects. The final digital touch allows for ease in changing colours and backgrounds, creating the maximum effect on the viewer.

KEY STYLE 3: NIGHT–TIME ILLUSTRATIONS
This is a series of comic-inspired night-time illustrations. While some places do exist, some are just imaginary. These sceneries were drawn completely digitally, making it easier to add a specific mood and atmosphere to the images.

This style has been featured on Digital Art Served.

PERSONAL ILLUSTRATIONS: MINDSHOTS
A personal project called »Mindshots«. The inspiration for each piece comes from my daily life while working, talking, watching a movie, and hanging out with friends, or while getting bored in the dentist's waiting room. Some are socially critical, humorous, or just plain ridiculous. In the best case, these can help you to get to know me a bit better despite the geographical distance.

This style has been featured on Pantone Gallery.
