Guam’s beautiful island imagery, fascinating Chamorro culture, and unique cuisine made for gorgeous image sharing on the Guam Visitors Bureau’s social media accounts, which I managed for Placemaking Group agency from 2012-2014.

The #GuamRays photo contest was created as a way to engage fans of this beautiful travel destination. Followers who posted a sunglasses selfie using the hashtag #GuamRays to Instagram, Twitter or through the Woobox app were entered to win a cool pair of Ray-Ban® Aviator Flash Lenses, offered by the Visitors Bureau. Guam’s primary social media accounts got a collective boost in followers from the contest.

The “Show Us Your Flip Flops!” photo contest offered a chance at a Guam getaway for followers who shared snaps of their beach-ready feet.

These slice-of-life photos present a down to earth, very relatable window into Guam’s culture, and provided fun content to encourage likes and shares to get the word out about Guam as a great travel destination.
