California Inspires Me: Mark Mothersbaugh from Devo

DEVO lead singer, Mark Mothersbaugh, speaks on growing up legally blind, despising music until he saw the Beatles, and how Devo got it’s name in California Inspires Me, a BBH Los Angeles collaboration with The California Sunday Magazine and Google Play delightfully directed by Manson. Mark is a legendary figure for fans of both street art and music culture. Cofounder of the seminal New Wave band DEVO, he was a prolific visual artist before the band’s inception moving seamlessly between multiple mediums creating bold, cartoonish, strangely disturbed works of pop surrealism that playfully explore the relationship between technology and individuality.

California Inspires Me brings some of California’s biggest entertainers to life in animated videos. Each video has a special landing page in the Google Play Store, allowing fans to explore the artist’s work and the entertainment that shaped them.
