January 2012 Collages
The One-A-Day Project
The One-A-Day Project
A selection of a few of my favorite collages I've recently completed. A recent retrospective exhibition on the incredible German Dada artist, Kurt Schwitters, inspired me to get back to work on the analog side of my creativity. I had never seen such a full exhibition of one of my favorite modernists before, and I was simply blown away. While I in no way can compare myself to or touch the quality of his work, it did reignite my passion for doing collage.
As a project, it started very organically. I began to use my amassed collection of old papers in December of last year and made a few pieces just to get back into the flow again. As I I focused on these early pieces, I realized there was a lot that I wanted to explore in the collage medium once again. I made the decision to shoot for a one-a-day collage through the month of January. I'm hoping I can carry on this momentum throughout the rest of the year, not knowing where it might lead me. Kind of an art-making diary, if you will. Hope you enjoy it.
