WhoseRound - Co-created alcohol awareness campaign

Brief

A co-production approach inviting 16-23 year olds to think about safer socialising, safer drinking and safer transport home. The project delivers a blended programme of online and offline activities focused around these three key areas. It was developed by and with young people in the Greater Glasgow and Clyde area who were able to influence the name, design and content produced in the programme.

Delivery

Snook’s research paper, The Matter collaborated closely with young people to uncover diverse insights into young people’s perceptions and relationship with alcohol in Greater Glasgow & Clyde. The research focused on the Drinking Journey during a night out or a night in – from ‘pre-loading’ to getting home. The Drinking Calendar highlights the key patterns of alcohol consumption for young people throughout the year.
Building on the findings of the research phase, Snook delivered:
- The WhoseRound brand and social media strategy.
- A collection of ‘Dear Alcohol’ letters from young people.
- A city wide competition to explore the relationship of young people with alcohol.
- Face to face engagement with young people during key events in the Drinking Calendar and handout of materials including ‘Get - Out of Jail’ free card and hangover grab bags.
- A festive alcohol awareness campaign.

Throughout the project, Snook developed working partnerships with a wide-range of organisations, from Community Safety Glasgow to Higher Education Institutions.
Measurable Impact
The new website design resulted in an average visitor time of 6 minutes 40 seconds and a total of over 8000 views during Student Freshers’ months.
Social media platforms formed with an audience of young people in Glasgow.
Collection of over 300 ‘Dear Alcohol’ letters from young people across Glasgow documenting their voice, understanding and experiences of alcohol.
