Creating A Personal Style
Why it's okay to borrow (sometimes)
I was recently asked to try one of the very things I had been avoiding photographically: to copy a photographer I find inspiration from. The idea behind this on-going project is to hone my own style through practice of someone else's. I am inspired by Jill greenberg, as many others are. I have always tried NOT to copy her style, but I am finding that sometimes its useful to practice what she is so great at. I start with three images in which I tried to emulate her style, models etc, just for practice. Then I moved into a more equiped studio and practiced her lighting techniques (images w/ blue background). I am happy with the results so far and am excited to bring her technique into images that speak more to my style. This is just part one of this project, there will be more soon!
