Kleine (Lil ') Jay & Cartes, zijn één van onze favoriete Hip Hop-acts en hebben een knallende live-act. Met dope beats van Radjie en Alecto behoren ze tot de beste Nederlandse Hip Hop duo's. Na 'Wie wat bewaart ...' '&' zou hun grote come-back album worden. Vanwege het grote succes dat we hadden met het vorige album, was het duidelijk dat wij de keuze zouden zijn voor het volgende album. Helaas zijn ze van label gewisseld en had het nieuwe label een eigen ontwerpteam ... Omdat we dit niet voor onszelf willen houden, willen we graag de vroege ontwerpen laten zien die we hebben gemaakt.

Eerst een heads up van het concept. Het idee was, omdat het een duo is en je hebt 2 namen, kunnen er discussies zijn over de vraag wie de eerste naam zal zijn. Is het 'Kleine Jay & Cartes' of is het 'Cartes & Kleine Jay'? Dit album zou een dubbele cd worden met ieder hun eigen 'toonaangevende' nummers, zodat we zowel 'Kleine Jay & Cartes' als 'Cartes & Kleine Jay' allebei hun eigen cd front konden hebben. Draai hem gewoon om en de achterkant wordt de voorkant. Fotografie doet hetzelfde omdat ze arug tegen rug zijn gefotografeerd. Ze hebben allebei hun eigen logo met het opvallende '&' dat de verbinding tussen de twee is en tevens de titel van het album.

Kleine (Lil’) Jay & Cartes, are one of our favourite Hip Hop acts and and have a banging live act. With dope beats by Radjie and Alecto they belong to the top Dutch Hip Hop duo’s. After ‘Wie wat bewaart…’ ‘&’ was going to be their big come-back album. Because of the big success we had with the previous album, it was obvious that we were going to be the choice for the next album. Unfortunately they switched labels and the new label had their own design team… Because we don’t wan’t to keep this for our selves, we’d like to show the early designs we made.

First a heads up for the concept. The idea was, because it’s a duo and you have 2 names, there can be some discussions about who’s name will be up first. Is it ‘Kleine Jay & Cartes’ or is it ‘Cartes & Kleine Jay’? This album would become a double cd with both their own ‘leading’ tracks so we could have both ‘Kleine Jay & Cartes’ and ‘Cartes & Kleine Jay’ Both with their own front. Just flip it over and the back becomes the front. Photography does the same because they are photographed back to back. They both have their own logotype with the striking ‘&’ which is the connection between the two and also the title of the album.

Beide partijen hadden hun eigen boekje met tracklist, track informatie en elk nummer zou speciaal gemaakt artwork hebben van een aankomende Nederlandse artiest, het was een eer om op die shortlist te staan. De kunstwerken hieronder maakten we voor onze twee gekozen nummers.

Both sides would have their own booklet with track-list, track information and each song would have special made artwork by an upcoming Dutch artist, it was an honour to be on that short-list. The Artworks below we made for our two chosen tracks.
