Back to the Future - Hoverboard Factory

Project Overview

I created this short animation to celebrate the day Marty McFly travelled to the future on Wednesday 21st October 2015. The idea was to show the iconic hoverboard being built on an imaginative factory line.
A more recent re-render of the above video, graded in a heavy dirty VHS style
Since the whole C4D render was actually only 80 frames long, I was able to make an infinite loop of the whole process, you can even watch a board cut from the spool, and follow it right the way round to packaging.
The first time I released this animation was on 21st October 2015, the very date Marty McFy arrived in the Back to the Future sequel. It was recieved very well, and articles popped up all over the internet shouting about it. I then released a second render of the animation, mainly because the first version was from a fixed isometric view, I wanted to show off the modelling and animation a bit more, and so rendered a variety of interesting camera angles and cut together a new animation. To my surprise, this was picked up again by a whole host of sites all over the world, I've pasted a few screengrabs below, my favourite being the last one from Japan, google translate has done a hilarious job of translating it for me.
