Design rationale & previous iterations:

While the project has turned into something personal (becoming a better writer and designer), perhaps I could inspire others along the way as well during this process?

I began looking for quotes to inspire myself through this project, not to give up, and decided to create an Instagram page as a way to document and keep track of the quotes that I’ve collected. That way, whenever I feel like giving up again, I can look back at the posts and remind myself why I should continue pressing on.
I could not decide on which font to use, I really like Circular Std but it didn’t quite fit within my current art direction. I’ve actually been spending a lot of time chasing after fonts on the internet, trying to get those paid fonts for free to use in my publications and instagram posts. Changing to Circular, changing back to Theinhardt, then changing to something else and back again.

One reason why I didn’t want to use that font was because I thought some of my classmates were using that in their work too. I didn’t want our typefaces to look too similar, or even be the same.
To create something visually appealing is a must, especially on Instagram. People scroll through hundreds of posts a day. What makes mine so special? They’re just quotes. Anyone else can do it. I decided to tweak the typeface and colours more to make it more attractive aesthetically.
I added the Instagram account name as well to create a better visual hierarchy on the whole. In the end, I settled for my original typeface that I was using through the second semester, Vaud.

I switched the colours to black and white as well to match the art direction of my project. Although the previous colour combinations were nice, they did not seem to tie back to my project at all.
