Breast Cancer is a health problem that effects women on a national and global scale. In the United States, this is the 2nd leading cause of cancer amongst women. This effects me on a personal level because I have a family member who had breast cancer. Every year I participate in a fundraising campaign with other non-profit organizations to raise awareness of the effects of this disease, educate women on prevention methods, and raise money that helps fund research, treatment, and prevention. This year I decided to create a website dedicated to achieving this and to test my new front-end development skills.
It took me about two weeks to design the layout and come up with the graphics for the website. I coded the site with HTML, CSS, and Javascript. I also used the Bootstrap 3 as a framework for responsive design. Using Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator, I created the supporting graphics converting them to SVG format to maintain a low file size and consistant image quality. I used Font Awesome Icons for the UI elements. For the Twitter campaign I made sure to use the same graphics, colors, and typography to remain consistant across the platforms.
