"丹"

is a special character in Chinese

It means cinnabar long time ago. It also means a special red color, which is the same red color as the wall of Chinese palace. It stands for royal and elegant. As time goes by, more and more traditional and religious elements were added to this character, which made "丹" a unique character in Chinese. 

 

 

This is the final project I made for Wood II class. This Chinese style tea table is inspired by the Chinese character "丹". It's made of lamination plywood with African mahogany veneer on top.
