Team NZ Identity
ILLUSTRATION & DESIGN
Jet Team NZ is a group of remote controlled aircraft enthusiasts who fly really fast, expensive jets. They were participating in a competition in Germany, and asked me to create an identity for them.
The two main aircrafts they fly are Mig-15 and a DeHavilland Vampire, and I thought it would be great to create some supporting illustrations - a sort of a rivalry between the two.
For the logo, I wanted to stay away from the stereotypical New Zealand Sport Team look, but not too far. After going through different sketches, I settled on the visual of a soaring plane, with it’s trail forming the fern, segmented to represent radio signals. The mark is meant to invoke motion, action and a bit of aggression.
