Whalehaven Conservation Coast - Wooden 6 Pack

This dynamic cellar in Hermanus is focused on the pursuit of perfection: the relentless efforts to ensure superlative quality in the cellar and the sourcing the best cool climate local grapes is starting to bear fruit at Whalehaven. The wines are very much a recherche selection by collectors looking for something of cool climate origin in the Upper Hemel en Aarde Valley. The esteemed wines, which were marked as cellar worthy, were held back and only this year will a vertical release of 2 vintages be released at the same time of the 2012 and 2013 vintage.  Bound to take their place at auction houses and at conservation safari camps and lodges, the range truly celebrates the beauty of the Whale Coast.

Passion for nature led the Silvana Bottega to start to explore and spend time in the Valley; realize the hidden beauty of the land and particularly its fynbos rich coastline that has a high density of marine and fynbos nature reserves. Because of its small production & limited inventory, only a small selection of coastal vineyard grapes have been selected to be part of the terroir driven selection. On the Chardonnay it is bunch & berry selected implementing cluster and berry sorting to increase opulence. The design incorporates nature across its elements: from a label made of eco-friendly paper through to the limited edition wooden box.

The first release of Conservation Coast has already garnered numerous awards. The 2012 has achieved a gold medal at the Concours Mondial 2013, Silver at the Michelangelo International Wine Awards 2013 and Silver in the Drinks Business – Global Pinot Noir Masters Tasting 2015. The 2012 Chardonnay has also won a Trophy at the Taj Classic Wine Show 2014.
Creating a wine of exceptional elegance from this modest artisan cellar.
