Founders Day at my school is where all the students wear their course t-shirts for the year and to be honest, I felt challenged (in a good way) because they have such cool character-incorporated designs. I mean, my department was good but others were great. So I decided that next year I should submit my own design, and tada! Here it is. Though I am not quite sure of the output ._.
First of all I had to draw each body part seperately, the face, the hand, and etc. Also had to do a quick sketch on the elements I would incorporate. It was really hard because this is the first time ever that I have done this type of project, where I originally make a character by sketch. It was so challenging because I have never been an artist (though I am trying to), a graphic designer -- yes. But an artist, no. So I had to look up on tons of inspiration. When I started sketching I wanted it to be original, so I had to be -- original.
Was putting the pieces together (as you can see) and from there on out I had added some elements that was anything IT related
and BAM! It's done. Decided to not finish the lettering and just use free fonts
Tracing was actually pretty good and I had tons of fun, here is the process:
Coloring the line art was one of the challenges I had. Decided to go with blue since our course uniform is color blue, I thought our shirt might be as well. I really believe in the saying "less is more". Minimalism tends to catch a persons attention rather than a complicated one. So I decided to stick with a blue color palette/color combination to keep it "less"
