I had the awesome opportunity to create & print vinyl graphics for Santa Fe's College Rec. Room.
After I discussed details with the client requesting the project, I measured the recreational room walls so I could create my vectors to the realstic size we were trying to achieve. I sketched a few placement options so I knew which ways I wanted my controllers to tilt. Then I created the vectors in Illustrator. When recreating something that already exists, I always think about copywrite infrigments and I worked hard at making the graphics inspired by the original while not directly copying it or using any of the game console names.
With the Pac-Man inspired graphics, I created scale to size vectors in Illustrator. I made my artboard the size of the vinyl so we wouldn't have to waste any. I placed extra dots in the event that we wanted to expand this art further in the room at a later date.
I placed markers on the wall where we planned to place the graphics so we have a visual of the space they would be covering.
Then the graphics were sent off to the printer at Santa Fe's art building!
The school rec. room looks so much more welcoming and fun to spend time in! I'm really excited at how this project turned out.
