Pad Thai Restaurant

. L o g o

My vision for this logo design was to combine a classic Thai design with a modern touch. The main design element was inspired by architecture in Thailand specifically the woodwork on the rooftops of the temples and old buildings.  The swirls of the designs are complex but still give a very flowing feel and have a bit of a natural element to it.

For the text I wanted to mimic the curves of the design element and make it a large statement that would stand out by putting the restaurant name in all capital letters. The work “restaurant” I wanted to contrast from the name “Pad Thai” so that it gave it a more serious feel and give it that modern touch.

Here is an over view of what all the elements will look like together and how they would be presented to the client. Including the business card, letterhead, and envelope.

The front of the business card just the logo big and bold. I chose to do this so that it will be easily identifiable and because the logo has some small text I wanted it to be read easily and can stand out against other business cards one might have.

The back of the business card features the logo design with a QR code leading the restaurants website. The QR code is artfully placed within the logo design to make it look less busy and more appealing to look at. All contact information is clearly written in a san serif font and uses the same color scheme as the logo.

I wanted to keep the letterhead very simple yet have a bold statement. The logo is center justified right at the top of the page because of the shape of the logo, putting it elsewhere looked off. The contact information is all at the footer of the page in one line being separated by a line just like in the logo. The background has a blown up grayscale image of the design element in the logo to add one more element, but is less opaque to not distract the reader from any text that might be on top.

The envelope mimics the letterhead with the large blown up design in the right corner. It adds something more too look at, but because the opacity is turned down it is not distracting and more gives a little bit more flow to the whole look.
. Magazine  A d v e r t i s m e n t
I wanted to start with using a picture that showed fresh, new, and different food to draw the eye in right away. I wanted to make sure that the color scheme of the food went fell with the logo. The food image doesn’t really have a lot of red tones so the logo contrasts very well. With the text I really wanted to emphasize how the food is new and different so I made the words “taste” and “new” in all caps and larger than the rest of the text. I needed a call of action because it kind of leaves the reader on edge so the website is right below the logo so that it leads them somewhere to go to satisfy their curiosity.
. Newspaper  A d v e r t i s m e n t
With the newspaper ad I wanted to keep the images very simple and minimal knowing that it would all be in black and white. So I decided to use the chili pepper picture with the chopsticks. The picture automatically gives the feeling of a spicy taste in your mouth, which is especially enticing to those who are more adventurous with their food choices. I followed the same pattern with the text on the magazine ad with emphasizing words like “Spice” and “tonight” and making them all capitol letters and in a larger size. Once again only placing the website as a call of action and the next step for the reader to go
