A fun little illustration based on a silly joke I came up with a couple days ago. I'm considering a background to keep it more well rounded, but I'm so busy with other assignments that I am happy as a clam that I managed to set aside enough time for just this.
To keep myself from getting to serious (because that can lead to overthinking a project which can sometimes keep me from finishing it), I used less than ideal paper and only one reference image for the positioning of the body. At first I had though about adding exposed bones and organs, but gore isn't necessarily my style, so I decided to let the facial expression, scene and color palette explain the situation.
I gotta say, every time I use my pentel pocket brush, I fall a little more in love. The pastel paper I used gave and bit more texture to the line work, but, given the subject, I think this adds to the overall composition.
I have been coloring work on my tablet using Procreate a lot lately. It's not nearly as efficient as Photoshop, but I enjoy the freedom to work wherever I please and, as I do not use a Mac computer, it also helps me better gauge color accuracy for printing purposes. Plus, I can output this nifty little process videos!
