Perfectly Imperfect Objects
2014

In my personal experiences, I felt I have some kind of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, and this is also commonly occurring in many people. The one symptom of OCD is “people probably recognize that the obsessive thoughts and compulsive behaviors are irrational, but feel unable to resist them”. This is the difficult point to release the stress of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder.

Consequently, I think about putting the physical and psychological impresses of OCD into the work, in which I design a series of misshapen or unusual objects based on common boxes. The idea helps me pitch myself into the working process, therefore, accomplish the mission of relaxing myself from OCD; and also for people who use those objects, they could think about what an object really mean to them and explore the personal way of utilization. Moreover, the misshapen objects could assist them to release the pressure of OCD during day-to-day use. I mean to make imperfect objects that are not functional, but investigate thoroughly into the deep significance of those objects around us, which have the intention of "everything is perfectly imperfect.”
