Nuit Blanche Wayfinding

I worked with the Edmonton Wayfinding Society to help create a system of signage for the city's first Nuit Blanche.
The theme they gave us for the night was of a Dérive, in other words, we had to make a wayfinding system about getting lost.

From the website: "NUIT BLANCHE IS AN ALL-NIGHT CONTEMPORARY ART EVENT IN EDMONTON’S DOWNTOWN CORE. Featuring more than 30 artworks ranging from the beautiful and poetic to the fun and interactive, this is a festival for everyone. Nuit Blanche began in Paris in 2002 and, since then, has spread to cities across the world. Nuit Blanche Edmonton consists of a main program, entitled The Half-Lit Moon, a number of special commissions, and more than a dozen independent projects spread throughout downtown."
I'll start with some of the initial ideation renders that went into the project. There were both 2D & 3D options.
Some refinement
They decided on a mixture of both the 2D & 3D signs, so we went into production on both.
The fortune-teller-as-map idea worked very well with the theme of a dérive.
