Case study of my logo design

"Being a UI designer I have decided to create my own logo. Well I'm not a graphic or
branding designer. But using my basic design knowledge I worked out."

Here I present my logo design case study...

1. Setting up guidelines
I have decided to setup few goals regarding the final output of logo, which guided me in the process of creation.

      - Logo should represent me,
      - It should convey my passoin, my profession &
      - It should look simple and minimalistic, since I'm using the same style for designing my portfolio.

2. Sketching ideas

3. Designing the logo
After some brainstorming I have picked the above sketch. It is the first letter of
my name ( 'b' for 'bharat' ). A simple 'b' shape which is formed by geometric shapes circle & rectangle.

I added a small triangle on the ascender of letter 'b', which forms like a pencil.

I choosed pencil in order to represent my profession, designing. I think it's a bit weak representation, but I sticked to it, because it looks creative and yet it represents designing.

4. Refining the logo
During my research I found few branded logos which look similar to my design. So I thought to differentiate my logo.

I used colors to convey my passion and to differentiate my logo. I have decided to incorporate 3 primary colors in my logo. Because they are the base for all colors & it creates the colorful impact on the viewers.

First I picked red which conveys the passion. I thought of using the red color for most of the part, since it is my main intention.

For this I used 60-30-10 rule for incorporating the colors, where 60% is the red. Of course the colors are not exactly in the same proportions in my design. It is a bit difficult to color in that proportion for my logo. So I changed the values a bit i.e. ~ 60-20-15.

And this is how my final logo evolved.
I neglected few things like different sizes, print version etc. Because I'm just going to use this logo only on my website which is digital & no way I'm using this in print. So for my requirements this version suits better.

This is the first time I designed a logo. What do you feel?
Please comment, I would like to hear your opinion.

Thanks for stopping by :)
