Gillette Lifestyle and Behind the Scenes

Finally able to show some lifestyle images I shot for Gillette a whiles back, documenting the shaving process.  We discussed whether to shoot on location or in studio, and decided to go the studio route so we could control every aspect, including the creepy shoot through mirror area to get the 1st person perspective.  We built a nice light and open bathroom set, complete with running water and a steaming sink.

I felt really well suited for this project, because if anyone knows razors, it's the space in between my eyebrows.  A great team effort on this, from set building, to a very happy hair/makeup artist, through retouching.  A fun one indeed.

See the images we captured, process, sketches and behind the scenes below.  Enjoy!

And now a look behind the shower curtain with some behind the scenes!  A random smattering of our setup, studio, and how to carefullly drink coffee with a full face of shaving cream.
This is a planning sketch I did when we were sorting through the details of the set.
I'm good enough, I'm smart enough...and doggoneit, people like me.
Our festive drainage system.
One of my favorite things about this set was the reverse angle setup.  I felt like a super creeper shooting "through" the mirror, it was awesome.
Just another day at the office.
Yea, try to figure out how this happened?  WHERE AM I?
He had pants on.  I think.
Told you he had pants on.
When shaving for 7 hours straight, one must stay very caffeinated.
Not there.  The other side.  No.  Not there.  Wait.  Lower.  Nevermind, I'll get it.
Helluva project, clients and crew.  I really do love what I do.  You guys always make it fun.  Thank you.
