Café Mokxa is a coffee roasting company based in Lyon, focusing on providing great and unusual coffees from around the world, roasted by coffee experts. Guys at Mokxa also serve coffee in a little shop right in the center of the town. Here in Lyon, they sure introduced a new way to make, discover and appreciate coffee.
At the time we met, they were planning a fundamental design work on their brand, but until then, they needed some kind of emergency branding assets using their existing logo, especially for their coffee bags. They wanted something simple that would highlight the special way they do things, with honesty, passion and creativity.
As it was about the special way they do things, we chose to brand coffee bags with an unusual material and agreed to use adhesive tape instead of labels. This decision itself expressed the whole spirit of the brand, turning something common into something noble just the way you would turn little beans into a drink you'll remember forever.
We designed the tape pattern to simply enhance the logo, shaping up the whole thing with straight lines and the text needed to indicate the roasting date and the origin of coffees. We chose bold colors to catch the eye and recall exotic origins of coffee.

Roasting date, weight of the bag are indicated with an encircling system. Name and origin of the coffee are handwrited directly on the tape.
One good thing about this idea is that people at Mokxa could use their coffee bag labels to brand almost anything !
