Strangers on the Internet
Facebook meets The Phaidon Archive of Graphic Design
"Strangers on the internet" is a weekly project I started as a creative exploration through the lens of the history of graphic design, combined with random strangers I stumble upon on Facebook.
Every piece is made out of paper (hand cut, machine cut, folded, etc), with minimal digital touches.
The idea emerged when I got The Phaidon Archive of Graphic Design. I was looking for a systematic approach to reading the book, as well as a more interesting project I could do with it. I settled on a routine: pulling 3 random pages out of the box once a week with the goal of blending the concepts from those three pages into my own design. Rather than choosing a new topic for every week, I decided to take advantage of the information overload that comes with browsing the internet, and use names of strangers I see on Facebook as the seed for the weekly designs.
