www.balbusso.com We illustrated "The Bloch Sisters" for the Mount Holyoke College Alumnae Quarterly, Fall 2015. After fleeing Germany and hiding from Nazi occupation in Holland, sisters Gerda ’49 and Doris Bloch ’51 made their way to the USA to continue their interrupted education.
The rail tracks into the darkness represent the Holocaust. A rail track goes out of the tunnel and brings the two sisters to Mount Holyoke College where Gerda and Doris can start a new life in the United States!
