Delusions of Grandeur (poem & illustrations)

I wrote a little poem for the set titled Delusions of Grandeur. The poem and paintings first appeared in Old Tat Magazine, a print magazine out of the United Kingdom.

Delusions of Grandeur
a poem written and illustrated by Gretchen Ellen Powers

Roosevelt was skeptical
And Bonaparte was sure,
That neither he nor Teddy
Had had quite such hair before.
And wouldn't for our lessons
Make a more intriguing pair,
If Napoleon were an oxen
And old Roosevelt a bear?

Taking historical figures, and turning them into animals.
This is President Theodore Roosevelt, appearing as a brown bear.

Napoleon Bonaparte's famous hat reminded me quite a bit of the horns on a musk oxen.
His hoof tucked into his unbuttoned shirt, is also capturing a recognizable trait of his.
