An All Hallow's Tale
A web-playable short story to celebrate Halloween.
I was granted the honor by one, Aasta L. Otnes to help make a Halloween themed point-and-click game. Partly what made this an interesting project was that the art was all 2D and planar, but composited in a 3D environment.
Aasta provided all the art on 2D sprite sheets, and I distributed it all throughout Unity scenes according to a map she provided.
To start with, art was still being made, I rapidly prototyped in-engine using only boxes, later to be replaced by her actual art.
This was a fast project. Every in-game event, like dialogue, was all hard-coded. A difficult aspect was setting up a checkpoint system for the 2 points where it's possible to fail. For that I basically just used static values that determined which points to skip to.

Here's an example of a set of 2D images placed before or behind each other in a 3D scene.
The 2D to 3D translation for this project was decided on the go. The decision to use lighting or not was something we experimented with throughout the 4 weeks.
Where puppet-style animation was needed I cut things out in Maya and rigged them therein for animation.
For our outdoor scene, I setup a Unity terrain distributed Aasta's 2D rocls and trees all over the place.
All-in-all, I'm really pleased with how the project came out.
