VERTICE —
frencdoor refrigerator
for Vestel in 2015
Design Background
—
The task was to design a frenchdoor refrigerator exterior over an existing interior in order to display at IFA Berlin in 2015. Achiving a contemporary aesthetic and showing Vestel’s design approach to both visitors and ODM customers was the main objective.
Inspiration
—
● integration in form and function
● contemporary minimal look
● simple and honest aesthetics
● highlighting with contrast
Ideation
—
During the ideation, I searched for an iconic and minimal look by playing with basic geometral relations of parts. I tried to integrate all elements to one another and enrich the use of functional surfaces. To appreciate the value of the dark stainless steel, it was critical to keep those areas as wide and clean as possible.
—
Further alternatives were generated after deciding on the distinctive archetype. I discovered different proportions and combinations of the characteristic dark line unit(s) with chrome addons. Besides, the position of the display was considered.
Final Product
—
The key and distinctive feature of Vertice is the clear and elegant appearance of the black stainless steel frontal design. Sharp and geometric shapes make the refrigerator robust and promote the minimalist approach. Integrated handles and display are located in the same unit. These contrasted areas bring the refrigerators’ clear appearance to the fore and emphasise the horizontal division with a sleek chrome trim. The upper handles are fitted with led lighting in order to make usage easy in dark.
