These are works that I finished in August 2014. Each is made using fine silver (999). The first was made using legally aquired ivory and ebony from my Great Granmother's piano, the second wood taken from my hometown engraved with a scene from my home, and the third is a maple leaf paper book with approximately 10 pages.

The hinge design used in these pieces is especially unique as I have never seen it used before, and when consulting fellow goldsmiths I was told it would be near impossible (spoiler: they were right). It was done by connecting the hinges, partially spot soldering the join, and then separating the back and front to fully solder. This meant I was able to avoid problems such as the solder running and connecting the back and front, which happened dugin my previous attempts.

The meaning behind this piece simply relates to the three aspects of myself that were most prominent at the time: musical creativity, home and literary creativity. Each piece is both physically, visually and conceptually linked to their specific idea.

Overall, I was happy with the finished set, I was able to learn a lot, challenge commonly used skills and work with new and beautiful materials.
