The brief set by James Cropper Paper, named 'Redefining Paper', was to explore the potential of a single sheet of white paper from their new Porcelain range. As porcelain is usually associated with ceramics it seemed natural to reflect ths in my piece. To create the vase, a single sheet of paper was laser cut into 449 rings of varying sizes, including closed pieces for the bottom. The rings were then glued together in no particular order to create the piece, which stands around 150mm.

"Redefining Paper has been initiated as part of James Cropper Paper’s ongoing support for leading creative talent. Being supported to answer the question: what is the potential of a white piece of paper? eight creatives were provided with a limited stock of James Cropper Paper’s Porcelain white paper range, and given no more of a brief than to let their imaginations and the innate qualities of the paper guide them."
