Writing Response #3

Introduction: Water has numerous functions and is needed for survival in practically all-living organisms. As human beings we use water for drinking, bathing, cleaning, growing and much more needless to say, the water that is needed for use must be clean. Water pollution is devastating and makes contaminated water useless. Water pollution can be defined in any case where an outside non natural (chemicals, garbage, etc.) substance is present in a water source. Water pollution has zero positive effects and there are laws and restrictions in place to prohibit its existence, yet it is one of the leading environmental issues on planet.
Background: Water Pollution is the leading global environmental problem. To date there are countless circumstances that contribute to the issue as a whole but this research argument will focus on the main two being, weak and insufficient laws and restrictions and the conveniences and benefits of marginal profit. Water pollution is suppose to be restricted by laws and regulations but due to them not being enforced sternly and the fines and consequence’s not being severe enough there is nothing from stopping people from polluting and becoming repeat offenders. Todays society seeks to maximize marginal profit in all categories and can be more often than not fairly too greedy, both individuals and large companies are polluting each day to cut back on costs of proper disposal methods of their waste. Also, many individuals pollute for the convenience behind it, in some cases it’s much easier to pollute than to go out of your way to properly dispose waste or by-product. Both cases are easily related back to the initial concept that the laws and regulations for water pollution are not harsh enough and fallibly enforced.
