Da Vetro

Editorial
Da Vetro is a glass collection designed by Fabrica for Please Do Not Enter and will be launched in November 2015 in Los Angeles. Each individual piece is hand-blown by Massimo Lunardon with the limited number of 30.

22 pieces including vases, carafes, domes and containers create allusions to human gestures, postures and scale through their playfully poetic and utilitarian shapes.

Involved also as a product designer, I explored a way to represent how we got inspired from the glass blower's workshop before setting up the shared concept of designing objects with a respect to conventional functions but also a challenge to expectations.

The result was a visual identity using a simple and classic format with a touch of glass-ness. Playing with layers and distortions, my attempt was to create the materiality without using the actual material.
Identity

The minimal details to realise the reflection of glass. It transforms any picture into a glass plate when the corner of the picture is aligned with the small triangle in the "V".
Catalogue

A square layout implying a glass plate as if the pieces are peeping out from the plate. The layout makes a contrast to the organic shapes of the pieces.
Packaging — Label and Message Card

Producing the limited number of the collection, the packaging materials had to be printed ourselves. A very simple colour palette was chosen to avoid uneven result that our printer tends to bring. Instead, they were given an unusual format or paper to overcome the printing quality.
Like a window of a house, a small label sits well on any boxes that would vary depending on the size of each piece .
Found inside the box, a small card printed on OHP paper delivers a message from each designer.
