Stellar Student Exhibit Proposal

Within the school of design at the University of the Sunshine Coast, each class of graduating students participates in an exhibition where they showcase their academic and professional work to the University and greater local community.
The theme of the exhibition was selected by a panel of judges from proposals made by groups of students within the graduating cohort, where each group contained both graphic design and e-media major students. This panel of judges was comprised of practicing industry professionals, from both the Sunshine Coast and internationally.

I collaborated with fellow designers Jana Stadelmann, Laura Yarnold, Jaclyn Crane and Alyssa Pascarella, as well as e-media developers Sam Huth and Ryan McInerney, to create “Stellar”. The concept of “Stellar” symbolised our skill as “stellar” designers (brilliant and ambitious) and “stellar” as a description of our careers (we hope to travel far, shine brightly, and leave a trail for others to follow in our stead). This tied our goals and ambitions to the theme of the cosmos.

We drew our colour scheme from the blackness of space and the radiant hues of nebulas and stars, while simultaneously using pigments familiar with designers, particularly cyan and magenta.
