THE JOURNEY
Dimension: 100x70 cm
Medium: Acrylic on Canvas

In The Journey the Artist represents a young African woman holding on her back a sleeping child caught at the beginning of their walk to an unknown destination; they are leaving without luggage. The symbolic meaning of the Work refers to the social theme of the new global migration and the insecurity of the future (hence the undefined destination) for the young generations. The core descriptive elements are the expression of the woman eyes, the elegant chromaticism and the refine artistic technique giving the figure a light dynamism. The eyes of the woman seem to be at the same time sad, hopeful and vivid: sad cause of the forced departure, hopeful due to her optimistic life attitude, vivid thanks to the awareness of being strong and persistent granting a better future to her child. She is afraid but ready to face the unknows of the new life!!!! Painted with a pleasurable chromaticism composition, the dominant byzantine blue background makes the whole painting attractive and refreshing; the classical contrast of the black and white color shapes the two parties; the interesting elements in red (woman lips) and yellow (large hearing) give a stylish appeal to the Work.
