Den Urbana Fronten
Den urbana fronten by Katarina Despotovic and Catharina Thörn, is a book dealing with gentrification of former industrial area Kvillebäcken, Gothenburg. It is a marked political book questioning the city transformation drive in the name of sustainable city development. Who are the winners in this development and what are the consequences for the people of the city? Photos of the former (original, first) residents of the area have a dominant part and is displayed in the beginning of the book as an extensive and purely visual introduction. The design has an expression similar to a political pamphlet with sharp, simple typography. When you open the cover you discover a hidden photo, a figurative translation of how the book reveals the hidden agendas of the areas transformation.
