TASTE / HANDS / EYES / LOVE
These are the basic "skills" you need to have to master the letter arts. Taste is something you need to learn and get from years of studying the forms and trends. You need to get your hands under control, master the techniques of writing lines, curves, usage of several tools to create the right results. Eyes are very important in regonize the right forms, you have to see what is good and what is not. You have to see the wrong kerning, the wrong proportions and you have to train your eyes and look very scrupulously at your own work to make the right progress. And last but not least - love. You have to love the letters, the forms, you have to love design, be the part of the creative proces, you have to live with the styles. You have to take time for what you love and by patient and precise, and if it´s real, you will deffenetly make progress. This is how I see my journey in to the secrets of Lettering and Calligraphy Arts. This is what made me do the right steps, take this as my tip for you. I am not at the end of my "growth" - not even close, but I work on these steps and it works. Enjoy and have fun with it. Like I do.
