Il tema del workshop 'Identité', tenuto da Dirk Behage e Evelyne Ter Bekke all'Ensad di Parigi, era quello di indagare l'identità visiva di un oggetto. La mia scelta è caduta sul döner kebab. Dopo averne mangiati diversi sono giunto alla conclusione che il kebab è, tra le altre cose, informale, diretto, caotico, colorato. Inoltre una caratteristica peculiare è la possibilità di scegliere gli ingredienti, generando una composizione sempre diversa.
Ho cercato di rappresentare visivamente queste variabili insistendo sui segni irregolari delle varie componenti. Dapprima ho scansionato la piadina e l'incartamento del kebab, che presentava le tracce tipiche della griglia. Ho poi cercato di capire come presentare gli ingredienti, optando per una vettorializzazione dei singoli elementi a partire da fotografie.
Infine ho presentato il progetto tramite un manifesto finale ed un carnet di ricerca che spiegasse il processo che avevo messo in pratica. Il manifesto è stato stampato in serigrafia in tre versioni: kebab normale, kebab piccante e kebab con verza.
The theme of the workshop 'Identité', held by Dirk Behage and Evelyne Ter Bekke at Ensad of Paris, was to investigate the visual identity of an object. I chose the döner kebab. After having eaten several I have concluded that the kebab is, among other things, informal, direct, chaotic, colorful. Moreover a peculiar feature is the possibility to choose the ingredients, generating an always different composition.
I tried to visually represent these variables insisting on irregular marks of the various components. At first I scanned the flatbread and the paper packaging of the kebab, which showed marks typical of the grid. I then thought about how to present the ingredients, opting for a vectorization from photographs of the elements.
Finally, I presented the project through a final poster and a book of research which explain the design process that I had put into practice. The poster was silk-screen printed in three versions: normal kebab, spicy kebab and kebab with red cabbage.
