Scissor Shelf
Studio Under Manufacture

This project was initiated due to a need for more shelving in a quickly growing office.  Placed in a corner, a conceptual surface was constructed that represented the space needed for a person to comfortably navigate between the new shelf and an existing work table.  This surface was the creative driver that helped shape the undulating piece.  Using no mechanical fasteners, the shelf unit relies on compression and tension created by the weaving of vertical supports to lock the entire assemblage into place.

I was entirely responsible for the design, testing, models and final assembly of the shelving unit.
