Capturing Stillness

This body of work is based on my experiments with frozen matter found in my garden and surroundings. It deals with impermanence of living objects and its transformation into solid objects with water and ice. Obsessed with a form of these objects and how they communicate with a light I tried to catch a play of forms and reflections, which is fascinating.

It was important for me to add stability and artificial permanence to the limitations of living matter and to capture it aesthetically. On the other hand I got a number of interesting objects. Squared or circled by form, they look magnetic, especially in monochrome. I was curious how the ingredients such as flowers, vegetables or leaves are corresponding with a texture of iced surface.

In these forms of ice and matter I see the evidence of existence, which is obviously non-permanent. After some time the objects melted and their charm quickly disappeared, making them perfectly fitted with environmental decay.
