This tutorial will teach you how to create a simple but powerful motion-illusion gif.
First, follow the steps below to create a geometric pattern made up of sets of aligned ellipses.
Then, using Photoshop Hue/Saturation, you can reproduce consecutive frames of this composition, each one being the same in shape but slightly different in color. You can then stitch the frames into an interesting .gif animation.
As you can see below, the end result is pretty amazing – It seems as if the hexagon (or 3D cube) slowly pulsates with each frame-change. Even though each and every ellipse stands perfectly still, the shape still somehow manages to “breathe”!
