We started creating the concept around the name of the helmet, "WARP". The commercial is part of the product launch page of the website, for which we’ve created several other short animations.
After the storyboard, we started creating the assets. We’ve built a lot from scratch but we also used available models from the web. The most time consuming part was to create all the 5 different helmet designs. Based on the Illustrator pattern files we painted the designs onto the helmet in Mari. A lot of tweaking and painting by hand was needed to get the designs right.
Besides the helmets we created the warp tunnel asset, the lab, the particle simulation setup and the motion graphics for the screens. We wanted to create a colorful and crazy ride just like the feeling the rider who wears the helmet will have.
