Conventional Equipment
Although the most easily perceived equipment to the masses is the lifebuoy, its form and size makes it difficult to utilise for the inexperienced user.
Observational Studies
- The beach is a very large area, lifeguards might not be able to constantly cover every area
- Lifeguard towers located a distance from one another
- Not constant vigilance from lifeguards
Target Audience
Lifeguards’ vigilance level is not always optimal. Furthermore, there might be areas where lifeguards might not be present when a drowning incident occurs. The concept would be catered towards the beach users, providing intuitive and ease in using. This would greatly increase the chances of detecting a drowning incident where time is crucial.
Form Ideation
- Best possible form to ensure ease in throwing and yet house the components too
- A float (similar form as the conventional lifebuoy) would inflate upon contact with water
Project Insight
Throwing the product in a dart-like manner ensures the user to aim easily and accurately throw Lifedart at the victim. It is essential for Lifedart to reach the victim in the cause of a drowning accident.
Form Ideation
- Housing technical components
- Further refinement on form
