The web graphics for the restaurant 54 Main Bistro in Hobart, IN needed to communicate an upscale but comfortable and approachable nature. The target audience for this site are local gastronomes or “foodies”. Since the restaurant does not house a freezer in it’s restaurant, its very essence as an establishment is based upon freshness and quality. We strive to communicate these values using warm, earthy tones. The cool salmon color is set off by complementary, soft opaque gray and cream hues. To whet the palate, images of fresh grilled panini and sliced filet with demi-glace are placed at 30% opacity. The menu buttons live along the top of the page and change to a soft mint green when hovered. The restaurant logo sits upper left to anchor the page.

The user interface is limited to clear quadrants with recognizable icons. To keep the context of elements clear, these organizational elements are also carried over into the mobile interface design. Allowing easy reach for thumbs and fingers, these icons and elements remain consistent with the overall design while providing a comfortable user experience.
