Water Mallow - textile sculpture
Materials: printed textile, steel wire.
The colour palette I used brings the resemblance to the water realm - the colour of wet sand, sun reflecting in the shells and stones, blue and green shades of water and navy black of the depth...
The cup-like shape was the result of exploring different ways of textile manipulation. The synthetic fabric after being exposed to high temperatures and fire started to shrink on the edges and create bubbles. My intention was to create organic forms that would recall the shapes observed in nature.
