    About

A small collection of big fake books and records that The Dead Father has collected from imaginary places.
    Published:
This collection of book and record covers will continue to grow as I continue to collect them and scan/photograph them. Feel free to leave a comment and let me know if you have any books, real or imaginary, that I should be on the look out for at the 2nd-hand shops.
The Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka
Franz Kafka's novella The Metamorphosis is a rather depressing tale ofa young man who turns into a beetle, becomes a burden to his family, and eventually dies of starvation. It was first published in 1915. Ifound this copy in a second-hand book store in Guelph, Ontario.
It looks like 'Playingwithbrushes' http://www.flickr.com/photos/playingw...038842264/ over on Flickr has cloned out the book cover to make it available for other visual projects.
The Inflatable Pirate by Jorum Swindle
Swindle's first novel is about a ruined man (Thomas Blentd) obsessedwith getting swept out to sea, convinced he will find not only losttreasure, but also the hidden city of Atlantis. The measures he takesto manufacture his own 'lost' experience are excruciating to read attimes due to their detailed, gruesome nature. You may never remove thestain of the 'auto-cannibalism' scene from your mind. A disturbed bookthat belongs, with American Psycho, in the category of "Almost Wish I'dNever Read It".
The Enigma Project by Michael Zhu
This rare 1982 paperback by Michael Zhu is a strange mystery-adventure,introducing Zhu's re-occurring protagonist Dr. S.P. Sullivan. In hisquest to understand the puzzling appearance of the Virgin Mary in thevelvet wallpaper of the Saint Isidore Hotel's front lobby, Dr. Sullivanbegins to unravel an international hoax that threatens the veryfoundation of Christianity. Because of it's atheist undertones, Zhu'sbook was ill received by the churches of it's day, and banned in mostschools and libraries by 1983.
