Eva & the Heartmaker - Told You / Take a Ride
Dreamy synth pop that’s anchored by a chugging r&b beat" / "Of course it’s ALL about the chorus – a chorus that veritably takes flight. It’s gorgeous! Scandipop
New times, new places. After several years together, Eva & The Heartmaker are ready for new challenges. And they return with exciting new songs in their luggage. For the first time the duo has left their home studio in Oslo and seriously taken a step out of their comfort zone. Produced in collaboration with Stockholm-based producer Calle Ask, the single “Told You” is the first taste of what the revitalized duo has been cooking. 4 minutes and 35 seconds of pop heaven that few others can equal in Norway. The song is already playlisted by radio channel NRK P3 and is released with a brand new video directed by Kenneth Karlstad.

With great accuracy, the couple’s distinctive blend of guitar- and synth-based pop music has during the last few years been a permanent fixture on many playlists and hit lists. They’ve regularly put out pop gems like “Joanna”, “Signals”, “Gone in A Flash”, “Superhero” and “Mr. Tokyo”, plus four critically acclaimed albums. Also foreign countries have noticed Eva og Thomas during that time. The group gets more and more followers and fans in both Europe and the US, and has already been playlisted by radio stations in Italy, Finland and Denmark. I 2011 they were voted Best Norwegian Artist at the MTV Europe Music Awards.

“Told You” is coupled with the song “Take A Ride”, and both map out the course for the next year. Their as yet untitled fifth album, which is expected in 2015, has been made in Stockholm with Calle Ask and in Copenhagen with Tomas Barfod – two exciting young producers who previously have worked with artists like Veronica Maggio and Trentemøller.

The producers have added additional dimensions to the music and challenged Eva and Thomas to make moves that they perhaps wouldn’t have made themselves. There’s always tension when you work with a producer for the first time, but in this case it was a smashing success. With lyrics about obsession and a cunning video shot in a forest during a rainy night, “Told You” shows an atmospheric version of Eva & The Heartmaker.
