Tumbaga fue la primera colección para la marca Kaniki, ésta busca difundir aspectos culturales mediante la moda. Tumbaga se insipró en un elemento importante de la cultura e historia costarricense, como lo es la orfebrería precolombina, cuyas piezas son verdaderas obras de arte, pero también fieles representaciones de sus creencias, rituales y forma de vida. Ahí radica su verdadero valor.
Tumbaga was the first collection for Kaniki, a brand that aims to merge fashion and culture. Tumbaga was inspired by Costa Rican natives' gold pieces, an important aspect from our culture and history because of their representative value.
El aspecto más importante en esta colección, fueron las técnicas empleadas, ya que se buscó representar las mismas que se utilzaron hace cientos de años en la orfebrería precolombina, aportando el mismo valor artesanal. Se utilizaron técnicas como el grabado, el repujado y la falsa filigrana.
The most important aspect in this collection was the use of different ancient techniques, as those used in the precolumbian gold pieces, with a huge artisanal component. Some of the techniques used were: embossing, engraving and filigree.
