Location scouting is an important part of the pre-production process in film making. Scouting for locations not only involves finding location according to the mood or the requirement of the project but also attaining specifics of a locations such as sunrise-sunset time, weather conditions, best route to the location, finding equipment rental places, food arrangement for the crew, permission for the shoot and a lot more. And for an upcoming or an indie filmmaker hiring a location scout to perform these tasks is not always an option. Currently there are no applications which provide proper database of locations with all the necessary information.

 

Recce is a web application which will have a database of locations that can be searched by filters specifically categorized keeping in mind the film requirements. Also each location would have all the necessary information required to shoot at a particular location. Initially Recce will provide a database but with time user will upload and share locations making Recce a user driven web application. Filmmakers uploading location themselves will create a more reliable and personal database which is very important when it comes to shooting at an unknown location.
