Over the last year I have over this time worked closely on a consultative basis with the Royal Exchange, developing visual experiments and materials which formed part of their ongoing visual strategy for the RET and the RE Building. This project is part of that development starting out based on historical contexts relating to the Manchester Bombing of the 15/06/96 and interweaved with personal memories and connections my Father had with the building and later the theatre in the 70's.
The project led through a series of visual experiments to a final delivery of a poster series, supporting print and a public installation activity, to engage with visitors to the RET on a series of Sunday's as part of 'The Manchester Weekender'. The supporting screen grabs from video taken on these days, and photograph's are now included in a book, which will be published in April 2012. This will also form part of the INVESTIGATE! series which is still ongoing, as seen by the screen grabs of the Graphics in the opening part of this delivery. Just after this I have included screen grabs of the Typographic development from the overall Branding and Graphics, developed to be included in the Kit of Materials at a later date.
Opening this selection are the posters printed for display inside the Main Hall of the Royal Exchange Building, and the Printed Display panels for above and below the main view screen, which also had a 4 min continuous showreel, inviting the public to participate in the activity.
