The Aviary - Experimental Shared Space

The Aviary is an experimental shared workspace in central Auckland, New Zealand. The space is home to a tight selection of cross disciplinary, collaborative creative studios, including Think & Shift. We were asked by Pitch Studio to design and fit out the space and we answered the open brief with custom furniture and fixings, ceiling features, wall treatments and room additions.
 
The space features greenery scattered among cage-like wireframe structures, a subtle, reoccurring grid motif and a big black box squeezed into one corner, concealing a hidden virtual reality room. Bespoke designed sliding doors partially separate the Aviary’s meeting room from the lively collaborative space, a built in tree overhangs a light flooded seating platform and a Mako shark named Bruce guards the bathroom.
