James Pratters YouTube Channel

My YouTube channel is a collection of video blogs (vlogs) focusing on various subjects and my own life. I’ve done challenges, travel vlogs, music videos, advice giving, activism, reviews and Q&As. My videos often focus on or include popular culture topics which will appeal to a larger audience. You can access my channel here.

Below are some examples of content that I've produced for my "JamesAid" sub-project on YouTube.
A Brief History

I joined YouTube in 2011.  In 2012 I used my channel as place to upload videos to share with friends. In fact, for all my close friends birthdays in 2012 I produced videos which included short acted scenes and music videos. None of these are public anymore, but it was where my interest in video initiated.

It was around this time I discovered people such as Charlie McDonnell, Natalie Tran & Carl Krebs. These people were making videos on YouTube about a range of things and I, like many others, wanted to give it a go too. I uploaded my first actual vlog which was intended for a larger audience than just my friends June 2012. Then, in December 2012 and throughout 2013 I uploaded more videos, frequently. I can’t promise you won’t cringe, but it was a start.

I soon discovered many more vloggers. In December 2013 I started producing videos weekly and I proceeded in this fashion for a long time into 2014. January 2014 also marked the start of a new sub-project on my channel called JamesAid; a series of advice videos which contained (what I’d perceive as) positive messages on wellbeing, appearance, exams and sexuality. I realised I was in a position where I could make a difference – if only a small one – and that’s what I wanted to do.

Later in December 2014 I started the James Pratters 2.0 project which also worked out as a re-launch of my channel, as I hadn’t produced any content in a while for various reasons. I feel the style of the content matured at this point and I’ve become more confident in front of the camera.
